Raised in Nevada County since 1971, I fell in love with Nevada City at 4 years old when my family drove up Broad Street for the first time. The words "It's magical" came out of my lips. I had instantly fallen in love with the picturesque little hamlet in the foothills.

I would then fall in love with Nevada City all over again at the age of 19, just days after my mother had died. I began working at our local grocery store, SPD, and while bagging the groceries of every single community member (everyone had to go food shopping sooner or later), I soon fell in love with the people.

This was the mid-1980s, and even back then I knew Nevada City was a special place.

This appreciation was underscored to me once again after spending years adventuring around the world as a young adult convincing me that, yes, Nevada City was, indeed, one-of-a-kind.

It was then in 2004, after an 8-year stint studying filmmaking and suffering through life in Los Angeles that I decided to return home. To Nevada City.

Up to that point I had had the great opportunity of always being able to pursue my dreams, whether they were successful or not. That’s a luxury in and of itself. It was then that I realized how truly fortunate I am and began to turn my focus onto something other than my own personal pursuits and development. It was during this time, in 2004, that I grew increasingly concerned with the direction of our planet.

After much personal research, I soon realized that if I was going to be effective in any manner I would need to start at home, in the very community around me. It was then that I began my focus on keeping Nevada City wonderful and ensuring that its citizens have the community it wants and deserves. For decades Nevada City had been very good to me, and I realized it was time for me to give back.

I served my first term as Nevada City City Council Member from 2008-2012, and I’m finishing my 2nd term this year, 2016-20. While this position (and even that of Mayor) is all voluntary, I take the job seriously. I'm dedicated to this community's betterment, and am happy to continue my work if elected March 3rd, 2020.

I am committed to ensuring the quality of Nevada City’s historic charm, thriving arts and culture, its environment, and the sense of well-being this community has come to expect. I will also continue to spearhead projects like the ones I have in the past: The Nevada City Farmers Market, the Boardwalk on Commercial Street & terrazzo lights, annual city-wide cleanings, the Goat Fund Me Nevada City campaign, Sierra Roots and the Homeless Weather Shelter, crowd-funding for local businesses such as Three Forks Bakery & Brewery and the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum’s Turntable. I am also dedicated to taking a stand for a good cause when the need arises.

It would be an honor to serve this community once again.
